The Pains Wessex® Para Illuminating Rocket is designed for use in emergency search and rescue operations where an illuminating light is required. The rocket operates in the same way as the Pains Wessex® Para Red Mk3 Rocket. When fired the payload is instantly projected to a height of 300m where a parachute suspended flare is ejected and burns for 30 seconds at 80,000 candela.

It consistsof a weatherproof plastic container with end caps which incorporates the handle and trigger assembly and houses the rocket, striker and 275m of ready-flaked line.
