The McMurdo Fastfind 220 PLB uses advanced technology packed into a simple, lightweight, palm sized unit. Using the dedicated 406MHz frequency, Fast Find 220 transmits your unique ID and precise GPS location to the global network of search and rescue satellites. Within minutes rescuers are alerted to your situation, and receive regular position updates. Finally, emergency services can home in on your beacons 121.5MHz transmission to find you.

These McMurdo Fastfind 220 PLB's come preprogrammed for use in Ireland however they can be programmed for use in the UK. Please contact our PLB servicing department for advice on this: 00353 28 23190.

The McMurdo PLB is small and light enough for you to carry on your person at all times. Using advanced technology, the PLB transmits a unique ID and your current GPS co-ordinates via the COSPAS - SARSAT global search and rescue satellite network, alerting the rescue services within minutes. Once within the area, the search and rescue services can quickly home in on your location using the unit’s 121.5Mhz homing beacon and flashing LED SOS light.

The compact McMurdo 220 PLB is quick and easy to activate, with a safe stow antenna which automatically deploys when the unit is activated. The battery enables it to operate continuously for a minimum of 24 hours. Waterproof to a depth of 10m, the PLB is also supplied with a flotation pouch, for easy retrieval.

FAQ 

Do I have to register my Personal Locator Beacon (PLB)?
Yes, it is compulsory. By registering your PLB, the Authorities know who you are and have all your contacts, this considerably improves the efficiency of a rescue and can save resources in the event of a false alarm.

Can I buy a PLB in one country and register it in another country.
As a rule PLBs should be purchased in your country of residence and must be registered with that countries national authority. Each PLB is supplied, pre-programmed to a specific country and can only be registered in the country for which it has been programmed. However, if you were to purchase a PLB in Ireland for registration in another country, you do have the option to have it re-programmed to the country code of your country of residence. How do I register my PLB?

Can I take my PLB with me when I visit a European country?
The acceptance of a foreign license holder to carry a PLB that is correctly registered in a different EU country is now pretty universal across the administrations that are CEPT members (but there are some exceptions). How do I get the battery replaced?
Your Fast Find battery can be replaced by any of McMurdo's worldwide Service Centres/Distributors. CH Marine is an approved service centre.

Do I have to pay a subscription for the service?
No, there are no subscription fees. After purchasing your PLB the only additional cost comes after 6 years, when the battery will need to be replaced.
