DC-DC & Alternator Charging

Charge Your Leisure Battery While Driving

DC-DC charging allows your vehicle’s electrical system to recharge the leisure battery while you drive. A suitable battery-to-battery charger controls the process and provides a charging profile appropriate to the selected battery.

This can be especially useful with modern smart alternators, where vehicle charging voltage changes during operation. Compatibility depends on the charger, vehicle and installation arrangement.

A larger charger is not automatically the best choice. Charging current must suit the alternator’s available output, battery charging limits and cable installation. Correct engine-running detection or control is also needed to avoid unwanted starter battery discharge.
