Description
Garmin GNX™ Wireless Wind Pack with gWind™ Wireless 2 Transducer
The Garmin GNX Wireless Wind Pack provides sailors with accurate, easy-to-read wind information without the need to run a data cable through the mast.
The package combines the dedicated GNX Wind marine instrument with the gWind Wireless 2 masthead transducer. The wireless transducer sends wind speed and wind angle information directly to the GNX Wind display, making this an ideal solution for new installations, refits and boats where running additional mast wiring would be difficult.
The GNX Wind instrument features a high-visibility, glass-bonded monochrome LCD display with large digits, a digital wind rose and customisable backlight colours. It can display two data fields and the digital wind rose simultaneously, providing clear access to true and apparent wind information, boat speed, steering guidance and other compatible marine data.

Clear Wind Information at a Glance
The GNX Wind display is designed to provide the wind information sailors need without overcrowding the screen. Two data fields can be shown alongside a digital wind rose, allowing the user to monitor essential wind information quickly and clearly.
Depending on the available network data and system configuration, the display can show:
- Apparent wind speed
- Apparent wind angle
- True wind speed
- True wind angle
- Ground wind direction
- Boat speed
- Heading information
- Steer Pilot guidance
- Velocity made good
- Additional compatible NMEA 2000 marine data
Some calculated information requires additional boat speed or heading data from compatible sensors connected to the NMEA 2000 network.
gWind Wireless 2 Transducer
The included gWind Wireless 2 transducer is designed for mounting at the masthead and provides accurate wind speed and wind angle information.
Its three-bladed propeller and twin-fin design provide stable wind angle readings and responsive performance, including in lighter wind conditions. Optical sensing technology helps maintain smooth and consistent wind speed measurement across the operating range.
Because the transducer communicates wirelessly with the GNX Wind instrument, no wind data cable needs to be routed down through the mast.
The transducer includes an internal rechargeable battery supported by an integrated solar charging system. For best long-term battery performance, the transducer should be stored in a location where it is exposed to light when removed from the mast.
GNX Wind Display
The GNX Wind is a dedicated marine wind instrument with a glass-bonded, anti-glare monochrome LCD display.
Its high-contrast presentation and large digits provide excellent readability from different viewing angles and at a distance. The display background and backlight colours can be adjusted to suit different lighting conditions and helm layouts.
The instrument connects to the vessel’s NMEA 2000 network for power and compatible marine data sharing.
Wireless Installation
The gWind Wireless 2 transducer should be installed on a horizontal surface at the masthead and aligned parallel with the centreline of the boat.
Where exact forward alignment is not possible, the wind angle offset can be adjusted through the GNX Wind instrument settings.
The transducer and GNX Wind display supplied in the pack are paired at the factory, simplifying initial installation and setup.

NMEA 2000 Integration
The GNX Wind instrument can be connected to a compatible NMEA 2000 network, allowing it to receive and share supported marine information with compatible equipment.
Depending on the equipment installed onboard, this may include data from:
- Garmin chartplotters
- Heading sensors
- Speed transducers
- Depth and temperature transducers
- Autopilot systems
- Other compatible NMEA 2000 instruments
A powered and correctly terminated NMEA 2000 network is required. Additional network components may be needed depending on the existing installation.

Installation Notes
- The masthead transducer should be mounted on a level, horizontal surface.
- The transducer should ideally face directly forward and remain parallel with the boat’s centreline.
- An orientation offset can be entered through the GNX Wind display if perfect alignment is not possible.
- The GNX Wind instrument requires connection to a powered NMEA 2000 network.
- Some true wind and calculated sailing information requires boat speed, heading or GPS data from additional compatible equipment.
- Mast access and safe working equipment may be required for installation.
- Professional installation is recommended where the vessel does not already have a suitable NMEA 2000 network.
Why Choose the Garmin GNX Wireless Wind Pack?
