FAQs

1. Does this radio already have AIS built in?
Yes, it is not necessary to buy separate AIS transponder. The Signal VHF 400 radio can both transmit and receive AIS signals.

2. Will it work with my garmin chartplotter?
If your chartplotter is NMEA 2000 or Garmin BlueNet compatible, you can connect the VHF 400 radio to it and see AIS information displayed on your chartplotter as well as make DSC calls via it.

3. How many antennas will be needed to operate the VHF 400 radio?
One antenna is enough for the operation of the radio. The GPS is installed internally, and the most boats usually have an antenna that would work with the VHF radio, DSC and AIS receiver.

4.What if I miss a radio message?
It is no problem. This radio has a memory which can store the last 3 minutes of radio traffic.

5. Do you recommend it for people boating around Ireland?
Yes, it is perfect value for money for people boating along Irish coasts, regardless whether it is fishing, sailing or boating.
