Description

Sowester Polyrope Coils (220m Coils) offer reliable, high-quality 3-strand twisted polypropylene rope. They are sold in 10 -12mm for potting and general use, also in 24 and 28mm for commercial fishing lines. It floats in water and can used for high-strain commercial loads.

Manufactured by trusted supplier Sowester, these coils feature an extra twist in each strand for enhanced stability, durability, and consistent performance across marine, agricultural, industrial, and general-purpose applications.

Features

  • Premium polypropylene material – lightweight, strong, and fully UV and weather resistant for long-lasting outdoor use
  • Floats on water – ideal for marine environments, boating, mooring, fishing, and aquaculture
  • Low stretch properties with excellent abrasion resistance
  • Rot-proof and resistant to most chemicals, mildew, and decay
  • 3-strand twisted construction for easy handling, splicing, and knot security
  • Extra strand twist for improved structural stability and reduced kinking

Applications

  • Crab and lobster pot/trap lines (often called "pot warp" or "crab ropes") – The floating property keeps lines visible on the surface, reduces propeller fouling, and makes retrieval easier; thicker diameters like 24mm or
  • 28mm handles heavy pots and rough conditions well.
  • Marker buoy lines and float lines – Ideal for attaching to buoys, nets, or traps to mark locations and prevent loss; buoyancy ensures they stay afloat even when weighted.
  • Ground lines and bridle lines – In pot fishing setups, for connecting multiple traps or securing gear on the seafloor.
  • Longline and handline fishing – As main lines or branch lines in smaller-scale or inshore operations, where floating helps manage gear.
  • Net deployment and retrieval lines – For gillnets, seine nets, or trawl support lines; the rope's strength and spliceability make it practical for attaching to nets or hauling.
  • Trawl warps or headline/footrope lines (in lighter setups) – Especially in smaller vessels or as temporary/backup lines.
  • Aquaculture support – Such as securing fish cages, oyster trays, or mussel lines in marine farming operations.
