Victron GEL Deep Cycle Battery - 12V

Victron Energy GEL Deep Cycle batteries use valve-regulated lead-acid technology with the electrolyte immobilised as a gel. Their sealed, maintenance-free construction makes them suitable for demanding applications where dependable deep-cycle performance is required.

Compared with conventional AGM batteries, GEL batteries generally provide a longer service life and improved cycle durability. They also offer exceptional recovery from deep discharge, although repeated or prolonged deep discharging should be avoided to maximise battery life.

Self-discharge is less than 2% per month at 20°C, allowing the batteries to be stored for extended periods when kept in suitable conditions.

The range includes seven 12V capacity options from 60Ah to 265Ah. Capacity ratings are based on a 20-hour discharge rate at 25°C.

Higher operating temperatures significantly reduce battery service life.

Recommended Charging Settings

The preferred charging current should not exceed 0.2C.

Temperature compensation is recommended when charging current exceeds 0.2C or when the battery operates for prolonged periods below 10°C or above 30°C. Victron specifies compensation of -24mV/°C for a 12V battery, referenced to 25°C.

Important Battery Selection Note

Battery capacity is rated at the 20-hour discharge rate. Available capacity decreases when the battery is discharged at a higher current. GEL batteries are best selected for applications prioritising cycle life and deep-cycle performance rather than very high short-duration discharge currents.
