Description
Zinga is a one-component film galvanising system that protects steel with a dry film containing 96% ultra-pure zinc. Applied by brush, roller or spray, it gives cathodic (sacrificial) protection comparable in principle to hot-dip galvanising, without the need for a galvanising bath.
Use it as a stand-alone coating, as a primer under compatible topcoats in a duplex system, or to repair and recharge worn hot-dip galvanising, metal-sprayed zinc or existing Zinga. Because it is applied at ambient temperature, it suits structures already on site, too large for a bath, or where heat distortion must be avoided.
The zinc acts as a sacrificial anode: in the presence of moisture it corrodes in preference to the steel, and zinc salts fill the film’s natural porosity to add a barrier effect. A fresh coat can recharge an existing layer after surface salts are removed, so protection can be restored without building up incompatible layers.
Features
- Active cathodic protection plus passive barrier protection
- Single-pack, unlimited pot life; does not skin over in the can
- Applied by brush, short-fibre roller or conventional/airless spray
- Can be recharged later with a new coat of Zinga after light surface preparation
- Flexible metallic film that bends with the steel rather than peeling like a conventional paint
