Garmin GND 10 Black Box Bridge

The Garmin GND 10 Black Box Bridge connects Nexus instruments and sensors to an NMEA 2000 network. It converts supported data between the two networks, helping you integrate existing Nexus equipment with compatible Garmin marine displays and instruments.

Designed for sailing systems, the GND 10 supports Garmin gWind, gWind Wireless and gWind Race installations. Its USB connection also allows a computer running compatible sailing software, such as NexusRace, Expedition, Adrena or SeaTrack, to access sailing data. NexusRace can be used for configuration and calibration of supported Nexus devices.

How Does the GND 10 Work?

The GND 10 connects to both a Nexus network and an NMEA 2000 backbone. It passes supported information between the networks so that data from Nexus sensors can be used by compatible NMEA 2000 equipment. Depending on the data type, information can also be passed from NMEA 2000 to the Nexus network.

For example, supported wind data can be sent from Nexus to NMEA 2000, while information such as GPS position, course over ground and speed over ground can be passed from NMEA 2000 to Nexus. The bridge is particularly useful when retaining Nexus equipment during a Garmin instrument or chartplotter upgrade.

Supported Data Examples

• Nexus to NMEA 2000: apparent and true wind angle and speed, boat speed through water, depth, heading, water temperature and barometric pressure.
• NMEA 2000 to Nexus: boat speed through water, depth, heading, GPS position, course over ground, speed over ground, waypoint information, UTC date and time, and water temperature.

Data availability depends on the instruments and sensors connected to the system.

Installation Notes

The GND 10 must be connected to a correctly installed and powered NMEA 2000 network. If equipment other than a gWind sensor is connected to the Nexus network, a separate power supply may be required for the Nexus network. Check the connected equipment and installation requirements before fitting.
