12 V lithium battery, 230 V inverter/charger and EasyView 5 touchscreen display

Want to use 230 V equipment when you are away from shore power, while keeping your battery charged and your system information in view? This Mastervolt pack brings together the MLI Ultra 12/1250 lithium battery, CombiMaster 12/2000-60 inverter/charger and EasyView 5 display.

The battery stores energy, the CombiMaster provides a 230 V AC output for suitably sized appliances and charges the battery when a suitable AC supply is available. The EasyView 5 lets you view information from the connected MasterBus system on a colour touchscreen. It is a strong starting point for a professionally designed power system on a boat, in a vehicle or in another suitable off-grid application.

Stored power: MLI Ultra 12/1250

The MLI Ultra uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry and stores 1250 Wh of nominal energy. Its integrated Battery Management System monitors the battery and includes a safety switch that can disconnect the cells if abnormal conditions are detected. Integrated battery monitoring makes information such as state of charge available to a correctly connected system display.

For installations exposed to cold conditions, the battery includes a thermal heating pad and low-temperature charging control. The battery weighs approximately 15 kg.

230 V power and battery charging: CombiMaster

The CombiMaster combines two functions in one unit. Its inverter converts energy from the 12 V battery into 230 V pure sine wave AC power for suitably sized appliances. Its AC charger recharges the battery when shore power, a generator or another suitable AC supply is connected.

The inverter is rated at 2000 VA / 1600 W continuous power under the manufacturer's stated conditions. It can deliver higher power briefly to accommodate certain start-up loads, but appliance suitability must be checked against both continuous and surge demand.

The built-in charger has a configurable maximum charge current of 60 A. Its settings must be commissioned for the battery and the complete installation. An automatic transfer function switches the AC output between the available AC input and inverter operation. Power Assist can supplement a limited AC supply using battery power when the system is configured appropriately.

Clear system monitoring: EasyView 5

The EasyView 5 gives you a daylight-readable touchscreen for a correctly connected MasterBus system. Customisable pages can show useful battery and inverter/charger information, while warnings and an alarm log help you keep track of system operation.

Is this pack right for you?

This pack is intended for customers who want both 12 V lithium energy storage and 230 V AC output. It may suit installations with suitable small appliances, electronics and other loads within the system's electrical limits. Your available run time depends on the appliance power draw, inverter losses, battery conditions and other loads connected at the same time.

For example: a 100 W appliance running for five hours consumes approximately 500 Wh before accounting for inverter losses and any other connected equipment. A high-power appliance will use the battery's stored energy much more quickly. What else is needed for installation?

The pack includes the three products listed above. It is not a pre-wired installation kit. The installer must specify the appropriate DC and AC cables, fuses and circuit protection, isolation, AC distribution and any additional MasterBus communication accessories required for the application. The EasyView 5 is supplied by Mastervolt with a MasterBus cable.
