Description

Probox 120Ah Solar Inverter/Charger & Battery Monitor Pack

Collect solar energy, recharge from shore power when available and run suitably sized 230V appliances from a 12V battery. This five-part pack brings together solar charging, a mains inverter/charger and battery monitoring for a small boat, campervan or other 12V installation.

What’s included?

  • 1 × Probox Spirit 12V 120Ah deep cycle battery – stores energy for suitable 12V loads and the inverter.
  • 1 × Victron BlueSolar 130W monocrystalline panel – model SPM041301200, rated at 130W under standard test conditions.
  • 1 × Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 – manages charging from the solar panel and offers Bluetooth monitoring through VictronConnect.
  • 1 × Victron MultiPlus 12/800/35-16, 230V – combines a pure sine wave inverter, up to 35A mains battery charging and an automatic AC transfer switch.
  • 1 × Victron BMV-712 Smart battery monitor – display, Bluetooth monitoring and an included 500A measuring shunt.

How does the system work?

In daylight, the panel feeds the SmartSolar controller, which manages charging of the battery. With a suitable 230V AC supply connected, the MultiPlus can pass power to its AC output and charge the battery. Away from mains power, the MultiPlus uses stored battery energy to supply appropriately sized 230V appliances. The BMV-712 measures battery current and estimates the remaining state of charge.

What can I expect from 130W of solar?

The panel’s 130W rating is measured under standard test conditions. Actual output changes with sunlight, shading, mounting angle and temperature. Solar charging can help replenish the battery, but whether it covers your daily use depends on your equipment and conditions.

The SmartSolar controller’s 30A rating is its maximum battery charging current. It does not mean that the included single 130W panel will produce 30A.

Frequently asked questions

Will the panel fully charge the battery every day?
Not necessarily. Daily solar generation depends on weather, panel position, shading and how much energy your equipment uses.

Can I also charge the battery from shore power?
Yes. The MultiPlus has a built-in mains battery charger. Both the MultiPlus and the solar controller must be configured for the battery’s lead-acid charging requirements.

Can I run a kettle or electric heater?
These appliances generally require more power than this 800VA inverter can supply continuously. Check both the running wattage and starting demand of any appliance before purchase.

Can I see the system on my phone?
The SmartSolar and BMV-712 each support local Bluetooth monitoring in VictronConnect. The MultiPlus does not have built-in Bluetooth monitoring; additional equipment is needed for integrated or remote monitoring. A phone shown in product imagery is not included.

Is everything needed for installation included?
The five principal products are included. Panel mounting, solar cables and connectors, battery cables, fuses, switches, AC protection and distribution components must be specified for the installation unless separately listed with your order.

Before ordering

Check your daily energy consumption, appliance wattages, battery space and the mounting area for the 1200 × 668mm panel. Mount the conventional lead-acid battery securely upright in a suitably ventilated location. Configure both charging devices for the battery, set the BMV-712 capacity to 120Ah and ensure battery charge and discharge currents pass through its shunt. Have installation-specific cable sizes and protection specified by a competent installer.

Unsure whether 130W of solar and an 800VA inverter will meet your needs? Tell CH Marine what equipment you want to run and for how long, and we can help check the package against your expected usage.
